On 25/02/2023, in association with the Moëze-Oléron nature reserve, the LPO organized an eco-friendly garbage collection, with around 20 volunteers collecting garbage from the coast for 3 hours on Saturday morning.
On the program: raising awareness of plastic pollution, but also of the best practices to adopt when collecting waste. Accompanied by Stéphane Guenneteau, nature reserve warden, the volunteers were also able to benefit from his expert knowledge of the rich biodiversity of the Ile d’Oléron and the importance of preserving it. Our warmest thanks to all the volunteers for their participation, commitment and enthusiasm!
Beach clean-ups, which respect biodiversity, help to combat plastic pollution, particularly through their ability to raise awareness. They provide an opportunity to discuss the problem of ocean pollution and related issues. They are also useful for characterizing waste, but only make sense if citizens and public bodies work to reduce waste at source.
